Our climbing bear decoration is the perfect introduction to woodworking. Wood is a tactile material, and learning to manipulate and shape a piece of wood is a great way to switch off from the day-to-day and re-focus on yourself! This introductory course will give you a good grounding in fundamental woodworking skills.
Underpinned by the 5 Ways of Wellbeing, you will learn new skills, share your learning with other workshop students, gain a sense of achievement, notice the nuances of different wood grains and keep active!
The course is aimed at men and women in our community, of all ages, who would like a taster of traditional woodworking. No previous woodworking experience necessary.
During this course you will learn how to:
- measure and mark accurately;
- plane a piece of wood, true and square;
- cut curves;
- drill a piece of wood; and
- shape a piece of wood.
At the end of the course, you will be welcome to take your climbing bear project home. Alternatively, we always welcome donations of completed projects for The Woodworks Shop.
